It's not.  It's a Heimdal logic bug, I think.  But if I'm right, it
should have bitten people using Heimdal under Linux before now.

I give up, back to real work.

If anyone else cares to investigate further, the recipe to reproduce
is simple:

  > kinit
  [your] Password: ...
  > date
  [date and time]
  > date [set it an hour ahead, plus a few seconds to allow for typing]
  > kinit
  [your] Password: ...
  > date
  > date [set it back to where it should be]
  > kinit
  [your] Password:
  kinit: krb5_get_init_creds: PREAUTH_FAILED
  > rm /tmp/krb5cc_1001 [or whatever]
  > kinit
  [your] Password:
  >
