POSIX or SYSV IPC calls on cygwin

I'm looking to use IPC calls on cygwin (shared memory and semaphores). The posix IPC api looks saner (easier), but it looks like it was only brought in in cygwin 1.7 .

Am I better sticking to the SYSV IPC api? Or is the POSIX IPC api stable enough to use?
