Now when I run the file I am getting same error without the ^M

dextem@USENDEXTEML1C ~/PERL
$ ./test1-mike.pl
bash: ./test1-mike.pl: /usr/bin/perl: bad interpreter: Permission denied

So does '/usr/bin/perl' exist? Is it executable? Perhaps it's time to drop back to the basics and follow the problem reporting guidelines found here:
