In what way is a linker option supposed to be specific to gcc? Did it fail because of the omitted comma? Seriously, many of the options detailed under 'info gcc' apply to g77. So, if you spend a few seconds, you will see that this is an option passed to ld, which can be looked up in 'info ld'
