RE: Cursor is frozen in Vim and Emacs


Stuart,

While "term=ansi" would indeed work (somewhat), Cygwin termcap/terminfo
databases provide TERM values better suited to the individual console
programs, namely 'cygwin' for cmd.exe and 'rxvt' for rxvt.  It is
suggested that you use those for maximum compatibility.

Also, vim inherits the TERM value from the environment, as do other
programs.  It might be better to actually see where the environment TERM
value is set wrong and correct that instead.  As cgf mentioned, the
correct TERM value is set automatically, so all you have to do is remove
the override from wherever it is in your startup scripts.
