[ANNOUNCEMENT] Updated: mc-4.6.0-2

The Midnight Commander visual shell has been updated to version 4.6.0-2.

This is a Cygwin specific update. The only difference between this version
and 4.6.0-1 is that the subshell support is disabled by default now.

Recent posts to the Cygwin mailing list indicate that there is a problem
in the subshell support, which causes the subshell to stay in memory when
MC terminates.

It is recommended that users uprgade to mc-4.6.0-2 until the matter is
resolved.

NOTE:

Subshell support is still compiled in, but to use it one has to pass the
-U option to mc. Obviosly this will trigger the problem described above,
so use on your own risk.

INSTALLATION:

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link
on the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to
your system. Save it and run setup, answer the questions and pick
up 'mc' from the 'Utils' category.

Note that downloads from sources.redhat.com (aka cygwin.com) aren't
allowed due to bandwidth limitations. This means that you will need
to find a mirror which has this update.

In the US, ftp://mirrors.rcn.net/mirrors/sources.redhat.com/cygwin/
is a reliable high bandwidth connection.

In Japan, ftp://ftp.u-aizu.ac.jp/pub/gnu/gnu-win32/ is already
updated.

In DK, http://mirrors.sunsite.dk/cygwin/ is usually up-to-date.

If one of the above doesn't have the latest version of this package
you can either wait for the site to be updated or find another
mirror.
