Using objdump on .obj files?

Subject: Using objdump on .obj files?

Hey all,

I am trying to run the binutils program 'objdump' on a windows .obj file.  I get the error that the file is not recognized.  Does anyone know how to use cygwin tools to peek inside an .obj 
object file?
