RE: Help a beginner!

Not really a relevant question for the cygwin list. Suggest
automake@gnu.org and autoconf@gnu.org as more appropriate lists.

However, here are some starting points:

http://sources.redhat.com/autobook -- online version of the "goatbook"
excellent intro to autoconf, automake, libtool, etc. plus good
discussion of portability issues in c, c++ and shell scripts.

http://sources.redhat.com/ml/autoconf/ - autoconf mailing list archives

http://sources.redhat.com/ml/automake/ - same for automake

Subject: Help a beginner!

Hi!

I'm only a beginner with GNU tools and i need some help...

How do I go about creating the most portable application possible?

I intend to use C. I have no experience with autoconf/m4, automake. Are
they
worth using? (Non-unix hosts?)

How about libraries and headers?

Any help will be appreciated...
