Sounds like you are on Win9x-
To change your hostname, go into the Networking
control panel and under the IDENTITY tab change
the COMPUTER NAME to what you want your hostname to be.
It is probably "OEMCOMPUTER" now, you can change it
to be "NEWNAME" so your hostname will be
"NEWNAME.domain.com"

passwd root or passwd don't work ,
alert me

hostname xxx.xxx.xxx
hostname:cannot set hostname; this system lacks the
functionality
is there no way to set my hostname?
original hostname is OEMCOMPUTER
installed path c:/cygwin
default text file type unix
install for all
