Just for the record: I have CVSREAD set, so I get
/usr/src/cygwin-cvs/src/winsup/cygwin/gendevices /usr/src/cygwin-cvs/src/winsup/cygwin/devices.in /usr/src/cygwin-cvs/src/winsup/cygwin/devices.cc
841 keywords, 841 different keyword names
9.48 average keywords length, 9.48 weighted average keywords length
196100 achieved trie cost, 83900 minimal cost, 233 % ratio
building pruned O-trie: 0.69, output: 0.06
/usr/src/cygwin-cvs/src/winsup/cygwin/gendevices: couldn't open /usr/src/cygwin-cvs/src/winsup/cygwin/devices.cc - Permission denied
make[2]: *** [/usr/src/cygwin-cvs/src/winsup/cygwin/devices.cc] Error 13
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/cygwin-cvs/build/i686-pc-cygwin/winsup/cygwin'
make[1]: *** [cygwin] Error 1
when building. As I said before, "touch devices.cc" after checkout is a
reasonable workaround, so I'm ok with the way things stand.
