netpbm maintainer (Yaakov?) -- The netpbm package is currently subdivided into the following: libnetpbm-devel libnetpbm10 netpbmAs the attached jpg [*] shows, netpbm pulls in a number of other packages, including libnetpbm10 and various graphics libs as appropriate. However, it also pulls in libX11_6 and perl.
The only application that requires libX11 is /usr/bin/pamx.exe ("display Netpbm image in X Window System window").
Further, most of the scripts provided by netpbm are POSIX shell scripts, along with only a few perl scripts (listed below):
/usr/bin/pbmtox10bm /usr/bin/pnmflip /usr/bin/pnmquant /usr/bin/pnmquantall /usr/bin/ppmfade /usr/bin/ppmquant /usr/bin/ppmrainbow /usr/bin/ppmshadowWould it be possible to subdivide the netpbm package to reduce the dependencies of the main subcomponent? E.g.
netpbm netpbm-X netpbm-perl (along with the existing libnetpbm-devel and libnetpbm10)?[*] compressed into an xz file because the mailing list software is ridiculously overzealous, as this is the fourth attempt at sending this message.
