I know that has been one thing cygport desperately needs, and I've even admitted as much myself on several occasions. The good news is that documentation using robodoc is now in progress in SVN trunk.


Although as a rule of thumb, lower-case variables are private and most upper-case variables are public, and functions beginning with underscores are private (as is often done in C).

No doubt you could. What then is the supported equivalent for $top?

There is none.


In order to override the umask (027) in my usual environment, which was
causing the files in my packages to have too-restrictive permissions:

Again it seems that this should go into my local cygport.conf, so I'll move
it there.

Yes, that would be the best place for it.
