Approx sizes (.mo files/other files)
Compressed 458kB / 467kB
Unpacked 2.0MB / 1.5MB

I'm wondering whether it would be worthwhile splitting the .mo files off
into a seperate package. This would, of course, be setting something of a
precedent, though, so I'm asking for opinions.

What's the point of doing this? You need the catalog no matter what don't you?

Only if you actually want non-English messages.

I just thought to look at my /usr/share/locale - it is 26MB, making the the half-meg contribution to that from Subversion suddenly seem not so significant after all.
I guess I'm overreacting, since no one has questioned that size already.

Max.
