I think these two features, especially the sanity checks, make it
worth the small changes. Of course, I'm a minority package
holder. I assume some with the many packages (Chris, Corinna)
would be outside this process anyway, though.
I do forsee regular text-wrapping issues with the 80-chars
problem.

How about MARC (<http://www.loc.gov/marc/faq.html#definition>)?
Sorry, the MAchine-Readable got me, I don't really think we need
to be using library standards developed in the 1960s. :)
