Are you referring to "check_case:strict", or "check_case:adjust"?  I find
the former very useful (i.e., if I try to create "a.C" when "a.c" already
exists, I'd rather get an error than get it silently overwritten).  FWIW,
I haven't seen any discernible slowdown on my machine, but I haven't done
a thorough timing study.
