Why *would* it be nice? I need Berkeley DB for Perl too, with dynamic
libs if possible, please;) And also the others, these are no special
programs/libraries but of general interest and I think they need to
be single packages.

If there is a MySQL daemon running for this application it is there and
could be used for every other application too so I think it makes not
much sense to provide a `private' mysql version.

What is so special with qmail? There is an existing port of exim which
is the really good, it includes a sendmail emulation (better than ssmtp)
and all, just test it and ask Pierre if he will maintain it to include
it in the dist. I guess it was also Pierre Humblet who has ported qpopper,
so do I still need qmail? No.
Only thing that I'm interested in is how Stephan worked around the problem
with the lack of mkfifo() on Cygwin.
